Early life
Gregory Norman was born on February 10, 1955, in Mount Isa Queensland Australia.
Greg was encouraged to get involved in sports from a young age and initially developed a passion for rugby, cricket, and surfing. As a boy, Greg loved the ocean and at one point planned to become a professional surfer.
It was Greg’s mother Toini who taught him to play golf. Toini was of Finnish origin and had a single-digit handicap. Fifteen-year-old Greg worked as a caddy for his mother at the Virginia Golf Club in Brisbane and ended up drastically improving his own game in a very short time.
career
Norman first turned professional in 1976. The next year he joined the European Tour for the first time when he won the Martini International in Scotland. In 1981, Norman made his Masters debut and did well, finishing fourth at Augusta. He then won the British Masters and after following up with a string of other wins, Norman became the leading money winner on the European Tour before joining the U.S.A PGA Tour. In 1984, Norman began gaining worldwide recognition after sinking an impressive 45-foot putt at the US Open. In 1986, Norman became famous for the “Saturday Slam”, otherwise known as the “Norman Slam” Throughout the year, Norman was recognized throughout the golf community for his amazing game.
Several disappointments marred Norman’s career over the next few years, but he bounced back in 1993 with the help of coach Burch Harmon. He continued to win major tournaments for the rest of his career before taking a three-year hiatus. That was pretty much the last major contribution Norman made to the golf world as injuries continued to hamper him. Additionally, Greg Norman was more focused on business activities at the time anyway.

Greg was married three times. His first wife was Laura Andrassy, a former flight attendant. The couple married in 1981 and had two children during the relationship. They eventually divorced in 2007. Their marriage lasted a little over a year and they separated in 2009. A year later, Norman married his third wife, interior designer Kirsten Kutner.

Property
Greg Norman has invested heavily in real estate over the years. Of particular note is the 11,600-acre ranch in Colorado. Known as Seven Lakes Ranch, the property features a 14,000-square-foot master lodge, fitness center, and spa. He founded the ranch by acquiring three neighboring plots of land and combining them into one property. A few years later, he tried to capitalize on the rise in real estate values and put the mansion on the market for a whopping $65 million. Two years passed and Norman again did not find a buyer. In 2018, he demolished the historical residence on the property (a 1902 cottage) and built a new family compound called “Tranquility”.
Completed in the summer of 2020, the home offers 32,000 square feet of living space including the main house, guest house, carriage house, pool, and boathouse. In the basement of the main building is a 5,000-square-foot entertainment area with two wine cellars, a game room, and a cinema. The property has a tennis court and a dock that accommodate a 150-foot yacht.
In January 2021, Greg and his wife Kiki listed the property for $59.9 million. They found a buyer a few months later for $40 million.
The Greg Norman Company
Norman founded the Greg Norman Company in 1993. Over the years, the company has branched out into dozens of industries and generated tens of millions in annual revenue. In 1991, he acquired a 12 percent stake in Cobra Golf, a leading golf equipment manufacturer, for $1.9 million.
