Max Homa birdied the 72nd hole on Sunday to win the PGA Tour Fortinet Championship for the second straight year when Danny Willett bogeyed the final hole.
Home carded a 4-under 68 at Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif. His 272 total put him one shot ahead of England's Willett, who missed three-and-a-half feet for a birdie on 18.
"It was a bit of a wild finish," Homa said. "The last three minutes are kind of a blur. But I played really good golf. I played solid."
Max Homa birdied the 72nd hole on Sunday to win the PGA Tour Fortinet Championship for the second straight year when Danny Willett bogeyed the final hole.
Willett is still looking for his first US PGA Tour title since triumphing at the 2016 Masters, although he has won twice on the DP World Tour since then.
He appeared to be in command on the par-five 18th, where he hit his 66-yard third shot less than four feet from the pin while Homa was in a short bunker and left of the green.
Hom's bunker shot missed the green and settled in the mowed mud below the putting surface, but his chip took a few small hops and rolled in the cup.
"I expected him to do it, but then it's still a bit of a shock when it happens," said Willett, who had excellent putting from 10 feet all week but couldn't make the short birdies for the win.
