Australia's Adam Scott shot a 2-under-par 69 on Friday to take a narrow 36-hole lead into the weekend at the BMW Championship at Wilmington (Del.) Country Club.

Scott is 8 under through two rounds, though it could have been 10 under if not for a late double bogey. Fifteen players are within three shots of Scott,

which represents an all-star ranking for the second round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

World Scottie Scheffler (67), Jordan Spieth (67), Cameron Young (68), and Canada's Corey Conners (67) are tied for second at 7 under.

Reigning FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay (68), Xander Schauffele (69), Rory McIlroy (68) of Northern Ireland,

Cam Davis (67) of Australia, and Scott Stallings (68) are 6 under. Japan's Hideki Matsuyama (67)

and Ireland's Shane Lowry (71) are at 5 under, tied for 11th with Chilean prospect Joaquin Niemann (68), and Kurt Kitayama (66), Aaron Wise (68), and Harold Varner III (71).

All eyes are on the 42-year-old Scott, who fought his way to 70th last week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first playoff game, tied for fifth.
