Alex Smith On Quarterback Ron Rivera's Comment: 'I Had A Really Hard Time Watching Rivera made a stunning confession to Washington

Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz this Monday afternoon. He said Wentz is the only reason the Chiefs aren't keeping up with the rest of the NFC East.

Smith thinks Rivera is out of step with the rude comment about his rookie quarterback. "I had a really hard time watching it," Smith said on ESPN,

via Pro Football Talk. "I couldn't believe it when I heard it. I'm not here to defend Carson Wentz.

His tumultuous career and ups and downs. This is a defensive head coach who absolutely drives the bus over his quarterback."

He adds: "Blame has to be spread around. This is a team sport. It's the ultimate team sport. How can a head coach stand in front of the media

and say one word and it's 'quarterback'?" Alex Smith is correct. Ron Rivera went too far. It's not just Carson Wentz's fault that the Chiefs stunk.

Rivera, meanwhile, can switch quarterbacks if he's so unhappy with Wentz's play. That would be better than publicly humiliating your rookie quarterback.
