Vazquez, 31, will now join just the second organisation of his career, having been with the Red Sox since their draft in 2008.

Since 2008, he has made it to the majors and established himself as a solid regular.

While never an All-Star, Vazquez has played 407 games for the Red Sox from 2019-present,

slashing .272/.321/.424 with a wRC+ of 97 points. The numbers would look even better as he posted a wRC+ of 102 or higher in 2019,

2020 and here in 2022. This year he is hitting .282/.327/.432, 111 wRC+.

Combined with his defensive contributions, he posted 6.4 wins above replacement over that four-year span.

He and the Red Sox agreed to a three-year extension in early 2018 that came with a club option through 2022. The club eventually exercised that option,

with Vazquez now just months away from reaching free agency for the first time.
