Australian golfer Cameron Smith has been named as one of three PGA Tour Player of the Year nominees, despite recently announcing that he has defected to LIV Golf.

The Australian has had a stellar year including a huge win at the British Open and a rise to second in the rankings, so the tour has rightly acknowledged that.

The only caveat is that the award is voted on by other PGA Tour players, most of whom have developed strong opposition to the Saudi-backed golf league.
