Cameron Young is tremendous value at The Open after breaking out of a slump with a monster opening round 64

Cameron Young could be on punters' radar this week at The Open Championship

But the events that followed tempered all expectations for the 25-year-old to compete for his first major championship.

He missed the cut in each of his last two events, including last month's US Open, after an 84 in the final round of the Memorial

So he entered The Open at very long odds of +10,000 on Tipico Sportsbook to come out on top.

Of course, Young played the lowest Open Championship debut round in the modern era, according to Twenty First Group's Justin Ray.

Young's blistering 64 (-8) obviously put him in the lead once his round was over, as it is the second-lowest opening round at the Open at St. Andrews Links.

Young's odds of winning are now reduced to +1000, which is much shorter but still provides amazing value.
