Collin Morikawa suffered worst hole-in-one ever but advanced in FedEx Cup with Max Homa His five-bogey 10 sent him into a tie for 44th at the BMW Championship.

Only 30 golfers will advance to next week's Tour Championship with a chance to win $18 million in the final leg of the three-week FedEx Cup playoffs,

Max Homa, 31, will be seeded 16th from Thursday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta after finishing tied for 23rd at the BMW Championships on Sunday.

Collin Morikawa will also be there, but only after a turbulent Sunday that included the worst hole of his PGA Tour career.

Morikawa made the road ahead harder than it needed to be. The 25-year-old had a two-hole shootout on Sunday in Wilmington, Delaware,

double-bogeying 6 on the par-4 11th and then a gruesome 5-bogey 10 on the par-5 12th. Morikawa, who was tied for sixth after a birdie at No. 5,

, moved up to a tie for 44th, finishing the tournament with an 8-over 79 in the final round. He still qualifies in the top 30 for the Tour Championship,

but will be seeded 20th. After shooting a 65 on Saturday, he was projected to be 15th for the week.
