Lewis Hamilton and FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem is among Formula One figures wishing Alex Albon the best of luck

The British-Thai pilot suffered appendicitis in the days before Sunday's Italian Grand Prix. On Saturday,

he underwent a successful operation to remove his appendix. However, Albon then suffered respiratory failure - a known but unusual complication after surgery.

The 26-year-old was treated at San Gerald Hospital and is now recovering ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.

Key figures in the sport send their wishes to Albon. Mercedes ace and seven-time world champion Hamilton dedicated an Instagram story to the former Red Bull competitor.

Hamilton posted a picture of Albon alongside the words: "Get well soon Alex. See you in Singapore!"

It comes after Williams gave an update on Albon's condition on Monday. The team explained that their driver is recovering after receiving medical treatment for respiratory failure.
