Greg Norman LIV Golf CEO said the official word Golf Ranking would be out of date if it did not include LIV Golf players,

you wake up at the end of the year and Dustin Johnson is 102 in the world, it's not for OWGR laughing? They can go one of two ways: either fold or include LIV in OWGR.”

LIV Golf officials are now believed to be growing impatient with the process that would award them world ranking points and feel they are being "slowed down" by the OWGR.

At the time of writing, the Saudi-backed series had yet to be awarded world ranking points, with CEO Norman sending a letter to OWGR in August.

The issue is around the players who compete on the LIV Golf circuit and who want to play the four future Majors. All four use the OWGR to some degree to set their fields,

with the Masters and Open Championship using the top 50 votes, while the US Open uses the top 60 limit and the PGA Championship the world's top 100.

Just last month, the OWGR went through a new system where each player in the field contributes performance points that are determined in part

system must be independent if it is to be credible. With the PGA Tour dominating the board, the Official World Golf Ranking currently excludes LIV Golf tournaments.
