Justin Thomas understands why LIV Golf players fight hard to earn World Ranking points at their events, but he strongly disagrees with their attitude.

LIV has sent a letter to the chairman of the Official World Golf Ranking urging players to receive points for playing in breakaway tour events.

The series even wants the points to be retroactive to include the five events already staged. "I don't understand,

" Thomas said when asked about the LIV petition at Tuesday's Presidents CupThey just naturally want what's best for them, just like the decision they made to go there."

Thomas is currently ranked seventh globally and has reached No. 1 twice. LIV's top-rated player is No. 3 Cameron Smith, who left the Saudi-backed league after the Tour.

Championship. Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson slipped to 23rd, and Brooks Koepka is 29th. Unless LIV convinces the OWGR board

its players will continue to fall in the world rankings, making it increasingly difficult to qualify for major championships.
