Chip Brewer, CEO of Topgolf Callaway Brands, is preparing his business for the next event as the world of golf continues to undergo massive changes.
At the 29th annual Goldman Sachs Retail Conference on Wednesday, Brewer said LIV golf's impact on professional golf is "a little early to measure,
" but noted that this year's influx of money into the sport is likely a "net positive" for golf. business.
As for Callaway's relationship with its biggest name
Brewer said the company is "still on hiatus with Phil Mickelson from a sponsorship perspective."
Callaway suspended its sponsorship of Mickelson
back in February when the golf legend's comments about the Saudi government -- which he called the "terrible mother -- of heroes" -- and the PGA Tour
PGA Tour were made public before the start of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League. Mickelson and Callaway agreed to a career-long sponsorship deal in 2017.
"We'll continue to evaluate it," Brewer added, telling Yahoo Finance that he had coffee with Mickelson last week.
As for Topgolf Callaway's overall business,
"Our business is doing really well," Brewer said. "Our consumer is very strong."
