Rory McIlroy gives LIV Golf verdict on world ranking points - 'It's not played by the rules
Rory McIlroy has spoken out about LIV Golf's ongoing battle for Official World Golf Ranking
saying the breakaway series "doesn't play by the rules. Since officially opening in June, LIV is still not recognized by the OWGR,
This lack of points, therefore, led to a drop in LIV members in the world rankings. In response, the entire list of LIV players wrote to OWGR chairman Peter Dawson,
demanding ranking points and backdating to the series's first tournament earlier this summer.
McIlroy - who has been outspoken against LIV since its inception
believes that if the series meets the criteria, they should get points, but that can only be done if they "play by the rules.
Speaking at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrew's this week,
: "If they meet the criteria, they'll get world ranking points. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't if they meet the requirements that are set out.
"One thing that's been frustrating from the beginning is that they don't want to play by the rules that have been in place for so long.
It can't be one set of rules for a certain amount of people and then a certain set of rules for everyone else - everyone has to follow the same rules here.
