Joohyung Kim, better known as Tom (because he loved Thomas the Train growing up), turned 20 on June 21st.

He was two days shy of a 23rd place finish at the US Open in Brookline, putting him just inside the top 60 on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Since then, the Kim train has been hurtling down the rails to become an epic FedExCup Playoffs race.

Kim wasn't even eligible for the postseason PGA Tour when he teed off Thursday morning at the Wyndham Championship.

Kim would have been ranked 97th in the playoff standings this week, but similar to Will Zalatoris' past situation, Kim was playing on special temporary Tour membership this year,

not full status. That left him with exactly one scenario to extend his season this week: just win, baby.
